Mosquito Bomb

Resort staff are quite vigilant in the application of mosquito spray to eradicate the mosquito carrying the ZIKA virus. You can see the early-morning smoke from the pesticide drifting out over the sea.

Haircuts

Ray and I got haircuts at a barbershop in Sav, 500 JD is a good deal. Thankfully they didn’t shave off my eye brows like the last time I was in a Jamaican barber chair. Very interesting, the barber must have communicated with my dad’s barber as I got a Marv doo for sure.

Supplies and Inventory

Ray and I went to the storage container in Cave Valley. We have a container that sits at the clinic there. We keep SuperKids and teach the teachers supplies in the container. We collected computers and assorted peripheral items for use in TtT computer classes as well as some of the supplies left over for materials to give to the Jamaican teachers. We also did a quick inventory so we know what types of things we have in the container.

Negril

We took the drive over to Negril from Whitehouse, it takes a little bit less than one hour. We took Savina to Ricks Café it was pretty slow there as it was a bit rainy. We then went Alfred’s and had a snack. Ricks has been voted one of the 10 best bars in the world. Tourists gather there to watch the sunset and the cliff diving.

Jamaica

We landed in Jamaica and got picked up by Nelson who helps us with our Great  Shape! Inc vans. We drove up over the hill to Whitehouse on the south coast and checked into the Sandals Whitehouse resort. Savina is wearing a Ray’s Cleveland Cavalier championship hat even though she is a Golden State Warrior fan.

Missed connection

We had less than an hour to make our connecting flight in Miami on our flight from Vegas. We ran through the airport to the Montego Bay gate but we didn’t make it in time and had to spend the night in Miami. We went to Kmart and bought some underwear and other supplies, ate dinner and left the next morning. I got the girls confirmed seats and I flew standby but I was lucky enough to get on the plane at the last moment.
